Welcome To St Mary's
We welcome all children and their families to St Mary’s, our happy and safe school, where together we explore, play, learn, create, inspire and grow.

The sad news of the death of Pope Francis has been announced, giving rise to prayers and reflection across our schools and communities. In his 12 years as our Pope and spiritual father, Pope Francis achieved a great deal. He promoted Gospel values, championed education and encouraged us all to do more to support one another, particularly the most vulnerable. It is fitting that as part of his last blessing on Easter Sunday he said: “I would like all of us to hope anew and to revive our trust in others, including those who are different than ourselves, or who come from distant lands…for all of us are children of God!” His teaching and legacy will not be lost, and we will cherish all that he stood for and all that he asked. His compassion, kindness and his caring leadership was an inspiration to us all. Prayer for Eternal Rest Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
Headteacher's welcome
“I am delighted to welcome you to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School. Our school and nursery serve the local community of Market Weighton and the surrounding villages within the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (St Mary’s) Market Weighton and St John the Baptist, Holme on Spalding Moor.
At St Mary’s, our dedicated staff and governing body work with our parents developing the foundations of learning of the whole child. We offer an exciting, balanced curriculum which meets the needs of all our children and is carefully matched to their differing abilities. Every child experiences opportunities to express their skills and talents in an environment where they are nurtured and feel happy and secure.
When you choose St Mary’s we join you, as the first educators of your child on the individual journey of each and every child entrusted to our care. A partnership that grows and strengthens throughout the years at our school.
St Mary’s is a caring, friendly school with the Gospel values at its core. The Catholic family ethos is evident throughout, with Christ is at the centre of everything we do. Our mission statement is embedded in every aspect of school life:
“Together we journey with Jesus, Inspiring each other to learn”
