History
We aim to provide children with the critical thinking skills to investigate the past. We have carefully planned topics to stimulate children’s curiosity and build a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and the wider world. Children are encouraged to ask perceptive questions, think deeply, weigh evidence, listen and debate their thoughts and ideas. Children are taught to think as historians and to recognise that there are different ways to interpret historical events and that knowledge is drawn from different sources. Children will develop a strong sense of identity and build a cultural understanding of their heritage. We teach children to understand how events in the past have influenced our lives and the choices we make today so that they are respectful, tolerant and knowledgeable global citizens.
